  52. If you are willing to blow several hundred $'s, one of the auto-tuning
  53. match boxes provides a lot of flexibility.  The Intel shack here
  54. has an SGC on a big hunk of wire, and I have the Kenwood equivalent
  55. in my RV.  Both perform about the same.  I have several antennas
  56. on quick-disconnects on my van.  A CB whip works OK on 20/15/10,
  57. but sucks on lower bands because the radiation resistance is not
  58. high enough to get much efficiency.  Low wind resistance, however.
  59. Also have 80' of wire on a spool, which is not exactly great on 
  60. the road, but at a camp site it works great with one end tied to
  61. a small line and tossed over the limb of a Sequoia Sempervirons.
  62. A recent experiment is a 80M rubber duckie that I just made.
  63. Tunes up nicely on all bands, but have not had a chance yet to
  64. see how well it works.  Sounds comparatively hot, though.
  65. Construction details: 70 feet of wire
  66. wound on 9 feet of 1/2 schedule 40 PVC, small C-hat at the end
  67. formed out of brass shim stock wrapped around the PVC.  Whole
  68. works covered with heat-shrink tubing to make a neat package.

  113. The antenna is now up and running, and it works beautifully.
  114. (My SWR meter barely flinches when I key up!)

  116. Band conditions here are very poor right now, yet this evening alone I have 
  117. managed to listen to a repeater that would not come in on my old antennas
  118. and have also managed to work a repeater I could never hit before!
